We recommend a minimum holding period of 3-5 years for optimal returns. Whisky appreciates significantly between 10-25 years of maturation. However, you can exit at any time — there are no lock-in periods. Our team will advise on the optimal timing based on market conditions and your cask's maturation profile.

While casks remain in bonded warehouses, no duty or VAT is payable. Tax is only due when the whisky is removed from bond (e.g., for bottling or consumption). Capital gains may apply on sale depending on your jurisdiction. We recommend consulting a tax advisor for your specific situation.

Bottling costs vary depending on bottle quantity, design complexity, and packaging. A standard run of 200-300 bottles typically costs £3,000-8,000 including bottles, labels, and packaging. Every cask comes with a Delivery Order from the distillery, confirming ownership and provenance. We also provide independent third-party valuations, warehouse receipts, and insurance certificates. You can visit your cask in person at any time with prior arrangement.

For auction sales, standard auction house commission is 10-15% of the hammer price. For private collector sales through our network, our facilitation fee is 5-8%. For bespoke bottling, you only pay the bottling and packaging costs — no additional exit fee. All fees are clearly outlined before you commit to any exit route.
